The constant development of the rolling process in the hot rolling mill allows Salzgitter to keep up with the growing demands towards the hot rolled sheets with respect to the individual needs of the clients.
The highest quality of hot rolled coils is achieved through the combination of the most modern technologies and many years of experience.
The production division of the Salzgitter hot rolling mill is one of the most significant production processes of Salzgitter Flachstahl. It is here, where the raw material (slabs) gets rolled into a flat steel strip with lengths up to 2000 meters. During this complex rolling process the steel strip obtains the basic mechanical, technological and geometrical properties. These properties get adjusted to the Client’s specification by means of the most modern control process. A few computer and control system models constitute the core of the rolling mill’s automation. They enable to perform the most accurate adjustments made to fulfill the highest client
requirements, in a wide range of properties – from very general to very strict, from very fine to very thick, as well as extremely strong – with values up to 1400 MPa.
Salzgitter produces a wide range of hot rolled sheets with width up to 2000mm and thickness up to 25mm. The offer includes a large selection of sheets made of steel for heat treatment starting with grades 22MnB5, 26MnB5, 27MnCrB5-2, 30MnB5, 34MnB5, 37MnB5, carburized steel 16MnCr5 – 20MnCr5, spring steel C67S, C75S, 51crV4, 58CrV4 and high temperature steel 16Mo3, 13CrMo4-5. Salzgitter additionally produces high strength sheets, such as S500MC – S700MC, as well as sheets used for the production of line pipes in the following grades: L245NB – L360NB, L245MB – L485MB.
