Induction bends

Our pipe bending plant Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlhandel GmbH located in Mülheim an der Ruhr, produces induction bends manufactured from seamless and welded pipes. We are one of the best international suppliers of bends for clients located all over the world. The production range includes land and offshore pipelines, tube structures suitable for power plant and oil platform construction, as well as steel and bridge structures.

We perform induction bending in accordance with the clients’ specification with high accuracy. The design of the bending machine allows to achieve very small bending radii, also in the case of large diameters and thick walls. We can, however, apply large bending radii, reaching even a few hundred meters.

Our biggest advantage is complexity. Thanks to the cooperation with other Salzgitter companies, we have the possibility to guarantee the best quality at every production stage – from steel production (raw material) until the process of pipe bending.

Scope of production:
The scope of bend production using seamless and welded pipes has been presented in the diagram below.

Bending radius:
Variable in the range from 200 up to 10 000mm (R m  = 1,2D do 10 x D); in specific cases it is possible to apply a larger radius.

Bending angle:
As much as even 180 degrees, depending on the pipe’s dimension, material and bending radius.

Raw pipes and materials:
Our pipe arches are mainly produced from steel pipes specially manufactured in accordance with the design requirements within the Salzgitter group. The suitable steel grade can be selected from the full list, which includes:

• Carrier steel up to L555 / X80,
• High-temperature steel as well as high-temperature and high strength steel up to P91 / P92,
• Structural steel,
• Stainless steel,
• Acid-proof stainless steel duplex and superduplex,
• Internally plated pipes.

Additional services and further treatment:

• Thermal treatment (QT, N, annealing),
• Bevelling of arch ends, preparation for welding, smooth finishing,
•  External and internal insulation of arches (PUR, PE, PP, FBE, epoxide),
• Packaging,
• Delivery to the place of destination.
